Tuition

Andrew is a professional musician playing and teaching music for a living. He has studied for 3 years at the School Of Creative Arts, Christian City Church Oxford Falls, and received an Advanced Diploma in Creative Arts majoring in music. Andrew has teaching qualifications after recently completing a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. Currently Andrew teaches over 30 students a week privately on the Northern Beaches, at St Pauls College Manly, and at the School Of Creative Arts. He has also previously taught at Jo's Workshop in Mona Vale, Northern Beaches Christian School, the Dreadnought School of Music and school band camps at Oxford Falls Grammar, Mimosa Public School, Mowbray Public School, Forestville Public School, Frenches Forest Public School and Belrose Public School. He has over 8 years of teaching experience and thoroughly enjoys it!

Music is meant to be fun, and that is the focus on bass tuition. As students enjoy playing the music they know and like, Andrew helps them learn the concepts and techniques in playing the bass.

Each lesson is 1 on 1 private tuition, which allows the lesson to be tailored to your needs and abilities. Whether you are playing in your own band, church band, school bands, recording, doing music exams or just playing for enjoyment Andrew can guide you through each situation. Beginners, intermediate and advanced bass players of any age are all catered for.

Lessons are held weekly or fortnightly and last for 30 minutes or an hour. The first lesson is FREE! so you don’t have anything to lose. Students will receive sheet music handouts, and have the opportunity to use technology such as recording equipment, drum machines, effects and a metronome. Amps and leads are provided.

Lesson topics include fingerstyle techniques, pick playing, slap and pop, how to groove with a drummer, song writing, scales and arpeggios, walking bass, improvising, soloing, reading chord charts and notation, aural skills, styles from rock to reggae and everything in between, and performance. All this is taught through songs that you know and like. You can even bring in your own CD’s and learn whatever you want.

As Andrew plays and teaches for a living he is available for lessons in the morning, afternoon or evenings (when he is not gigging or recording) so there is certain to be a time that suits you. Andrew is also available for outcall lessons at certain times.

Please feel free to contact Andrew on 0410-625-981 or email him at andrewchalloner@hotmail.com to discuss music tuition or to book a lesson.
